Sarah Oktay

Sarah Oktay is the co-founder of Spoken Word Nantucket, a poetry venue that operated for 12 years on the island of Nantucket off the coast of Massachusetts. She is a chemical oceanographer specializing in climate change research. The majority of her career has been based at field stations and marine labs where land and sea is preserved for science, education, and outreach. The has been writing non-fiction essays for many years for the publication "Yesterday's Island. Those will be coming out in book form in Fall and Winter 2021. Her first book of poetry "Sifting Light From the Darkness" published by Noble Fir Press in Nov 2020 examines the interfaces between science and the sublime. Len Geminara

Len Germinara has been writing, publishing and performing his poetry for three decades. For 17 years he ran spoken word venues in Massachusetts from south of Boston to Nantucket featuring some of the best poets in the country. He currently resides in Elk Grove California. He is on the board of the Sacramento Poetry Center and helps to run their socially distant verse and slam events. His latest poetry book “Back Story” is available on Amazon. Elizabeth Varadan is a former elementary teacher who writes for both children and adults. She was born in Reno, Nevada, but her family traveled a lot, mainly in California, so she considers herself a Californian. Published work for children includes an MG mystery, Imogene and the Case of the Missing Pearls (MX Publishing, 2015), a picture book, Dragonella, (Belanger Books, 2016; Spanish Edition, 2017),and a collection of stories for children ages 7 to 70, The Carnival of the Animals (Belanger Books, 2018)

Her poetry has appeared in Song of the San Joaquin, The Ophidian, Brevities, The Stray Branch, Vine Leaves Literary Journal, Poems for all-Little Books, and her poem, “Return to India”, was selected as an International Merit Award winner in the Atlanta Review 2017 International Poetry Competition.

For years, she and her husband have divided their time between their home in Sacramento, California, Braga, Portugal, and Trasulfe, Galicia (an autonomous region in Spain). Recently they moved to Braga.  Saudade, Thirty Poems of Longing, published by Finishing Line Press, published in 2020, is her first chapbook. Currently she is working on a mystery series set in Braga, Portugal and a second chapbook of poems about Galicia, Spain.
