Named for John Steven McGroarty, Poet Laureate of California (1933-1944), who lived in Sunland-Tujunga and left his magnificent house as a community meeting place, this chapter meets at the Sunland-Tujunga Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, 7771 Foothill Boulevard, Sunland, CA 91043 in the Community Room from 2:00 p.m. until about 4:00 p.m., usually on the fourth Saturday of the month. Short programs on some aspects of poetry may be included.

READ-AROUNDS: Read-arounds of poetry by everyone present follow the business meeting, contest, and program, if any. That read-around poetry can be self-created or a favorite poem that means something special to the reader. There is no requirement for a member to participate; listeners are welcome, too.
